Stephanie Sadler is a freelance content writer and social media strategist for study abroad organizations, artists, and creative small businesses.

I work with study abroad and travel organizations, as well as independent artists and creative small businesses. There are many ways we can collaborate when it comes to content. The first step is to figure out what you need, how often you need it, and how involved you want me to be. Let’s dive in!

For Study Abroad & Travel Organizations

How I can help you

I’ve worked in the field of international education since 2012, full-time as a social media strategist and content writer as part of the marketing team at CAPA The Global Education Network for six years before going freelance and keeping them on as a client alongside other organizations.

I understand how to communicate with the different audiences you want to reach: prospective students, current students, parents, alumni, and institutional partners.

I’ve worked on content relating to semester programs, custom programs, and first-year experiences. I’ve written about conferences, DEI, core values, experiential learning, immersion, authenticity, personal and professional development, pre-departure, reverse culture shock, risk mitigation, and so much more. I’ve traveled with students and followed them around with a camera, capturing their experiences. I’ve photographed locations for study abroad marketing materials. I’ve built and implemented incentive programs for student bloggers and vloggers, guiding them to create reels and carousels that resonate. I’ve managed digital media libraries and worked on SEO projects. I’ve worked on rebranding projects, website content, email shoots, and syllabi.

My personal experience studying abroad allows me to put myself in the shoes of your students. I’ve also lived abroad since 2007, in the UK, Colombia, and Spain, and love to travel whenever I find an opportunity.

For Artists and Creative Small Businesses

How I can help you

My very first freelance client back in 2016 was an independent artist, a painter and multimedia artist, whose studio was on the quirky Eel Pie Island on the outskirts of London. She has since retired, but I worked with her consistently for seven or eight years. I’ve worked with many artists since—painters, photographers, illustrators, printmakers, sketchbook artists, and others—in different capacities. I’ve created Instagram strategies, managed Instagram accounts, photographed artists in their studios and left them with a beautiful stash of edited photos to share as they pleased, rewritten “About” pages and other website copy, researched competitors and shared insights, set up e-commerce listings, applied for exhibitions, and written descriptions for artwork on show.

Long before my first official freelance client came onboard, I spent many years working on writing, photography, website, e-commerce, and other marketing projects for my dad’s side business as a craftsman making and selling garden projects, and for my brother’s local fence company. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I have a real appreciation for the hard work and dedication that goes into building successful businesses. I understand the ebbs and flows, the importance of reputation and great reviews, the challenges that come from a lack of time, and the pressure to be a jack-of-all-trades. I’ve worked with small businesses across a huge variety of topics like luxury photo albums, designer eyewhere, promotion of Chinese art in the UK, men’s travel and lifestyle, Mongolian womenswear, software development for the live sound industry, children’s book reviews, Spanish lessons for kids, public relations, luxury real estate, hynobirthing, and KonMari consultancy.

With artists and small businesses, I often duck in and out, ramping up support close to an exhibition, a launch, or a season, and toning it back when there are quieter periods. For others, I build a strategy and then step aside and let them run it. Sometimes, I’m a tiny but steady presence, doing as little as five minutes of active engagement per day to take some pressure off on the Instagram front. Share your latest project, tell me your pain points, or let’s brainstorm some of the ways I can support you and your work.
